Bare Metal Server

A physical server with up to 48 CPU cores and NVMe disks, all yours. Built for workloads that use every resource: databases, large batch jobs, game servers.

Overview

The full performance of one server

You get one physical server to yourself. There is no virtualization layer, so the CPU, memory and disks are all yours, and the hardware is not shared with other customers. LETO handles delivery, rack installation, part replacement and monitoring.

Every resource is yours

Up to 48 CPU cores, NVMe disks and a 10Gbps uplink, all on a server only you use. The same job takes the same time whenever it runs.

128–768 GBmemory

Keep your data in memory

Workloads that keep data in memory fit the memory-optimized type, at 16 GB per core.

12–48cores

Server-grade hardware

Choose AMD EPYC or Intel Xeon, with two to four NVMe SSDs. Pick the memory-per-core ratio that fits your workload.

We handle installation

LETO takes care of delivery, racking, part replacement and monitoring. You just log in and use the server.

Physically isolated

No hardware is shared with other customers, so there is no way for data to mix. DDoS protection can sit in front.

vs. instances

Bare metal vs. virtual servers

The right choice depends on what you run.

Form

Bare metal serverOne physical server, all yours

Instance (virtual server)Many virtual servers share one physical host

Performance

Bare metal serverNo virtualization layer; full use of CPU, memory and disk

Instance (virtual server)Runs through a virtualization layer and can be affected by other workloads on the host

Isolation

Bare metal serverSeparated from other customers at the hardware level

Instance (virtual server)Separated by virtualization

Scaling

Bare metal serverAdd servers one at a time; installation takes scheduling

Instance (virtual server)Scale up and down whenever you need

Best for

Bare metal serverWorkloads that use every resource: databases, large batch jobs, game servers

Instance (virtual server)Workloads whose server count follows traffic: web and API servers

Features

From configuration to operations

  • 01

    Hardware configuration

CPU, memory, and disk are chosen for the workload. Tell us the throughput and data size you need and we will come back with a configuration.

  • 02

    Installation and operations

Bringing hardware in, swapping it, and monitoring are handled together, through one point of contact.

  • 03

    BYOIP and BGP

Bring your own ASN and address space and announce it as it is. Running your own BGP sessions to control routing is supported.

  • 04

    DDoS protection

Basic protection is included. Inline always-on protection is a separate product.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What people check most before moving onto bare metal.

  • Bare metal is for when the physical machine cannot be shared with another customer, or when you need more than the largest instance tier. If you add and remove machines often, instances fit better.

  • By memory per core. c1a and m1a give 8 GB per core, r1a gives 16 GB. Pick c1a when throughput runs out first, r1a when the data stays resident in memory, and m1a for everything between.

  • Yes. Anything outside the published tiers is quoted once we know the specification and the number of machines. Growing a server already in service is scheduled as planned work.

  • Basic protection is included. Inline always-on protection is a separate product you apply for. What the table includes is rack space, power and cooling, IP Transit bandwidth, install and replacement, and continuous monitoring.

  • You can announce your own ASN and IP range as-is, and run a BGP session directly if you want to control routing yourself.

  • In a Tier 3 data centre, from 1U upwards as you need it. Once the configuration is settled we confirm the delivery schedule with you.

We start from the specification

Tell us what you intend to run and the throughput you need, and we will put the hardware and count together.
